About me

Hello! I'm Sydney, a part-time Software Engineer and full-time baker. But in all seriousness, I found my passion in cooking and baking during college and living by myself. I found so much joy and relief in cooking. Even though it sometimes made my procrastination worse, I am glad I have this outlet to balance school, work and life.

Since I was little, my mom always made everything from scratch. My classmates would always peak at my lunchboxes during lunch time to see what my mom packed for me (Most of them had meals prepared by school). We didn't know it was a privilege back then, and we just kind of got used to having homemade food all the time. There was one thing, however, that I was never satisfied about. My mom was always big on health, so we never had "too much" of something - no more than 1 slice of cake, even on my birthday, and no junk food or sodas of course. It was hard for us at that age, especially when our peers always had those food around us. My brother and I would secretly buy stuffs using our allowances. We would have to finish them and dump the trash before going back home. For some reason, my mom could always tell.

My mom also made our own shampoo and face masks. People always ask me when and why I started caring about the environment, and I think my mom's influence was definitely one of the biggest reasons.
